Web site Scripts
Web scripting or server side scripting is a web server technology in which a request by a user is fulfilled by running a small script directly on the server to perform a certain task and then generate dynamic HTML code to generate a web page with. It is usually used to help interactive web sites to interact with online databases or other data sources. It is different from client-side scripting where scripts are run by the viewing web browser, usually in JavaScript. The primary advantage to server-side scripting is the ability to highly customize the response based on the user's requirements, access rights, or queries into data stores.
This technique can be performed using a combination of variety of programs and different scripting languages such as ASP or PHP. These languages are often popular with web designers to help generate simple, repeated actions and are often the main component of most web sites that we see today. A script is more usually interpreted than compiled, but not always.
